１．研究会の概要
「海外の外国語教育」研究会は、英語に限らず広く外国語（異言語）教育全般、さらに広くことばの教育全般を研究対象とします。教育政策、教育行政、カリキュラム、教科書制度、教員養成、教員研修、評価システムなど、海外の教育政策を調査、分析し、日本に資する点を考察します。
2. 2025年度の活動報告
“研究会はオンラインで開催し、計4回の例会を開催した。その他にJACET国際大会とJAAL in JACETでポスター発表、JACET関西支部大会でコロキアム発表を行った。
研究会の内容は、海外を中心に日本も含め様々な現場の状況を調査研究し、その報告を行なった。具体的な発表テーマは以下の通りである。

3. 2026年度の予定
諸外国及び日本の外国語教育の現状と課題を調査・報告する活動を2026年度も引き続き行う。例会を年に3～4回開催し、会員の研究成果の発表や、外部講師の講演会を行う。必要に応じて、会員間のネットワークを活用し、共同研究や共同発表を行うことも促す。
「ヨーロッパの外国語教育の現状と課題」というテーマで、会員それぞれが、ヨーロッパ諸国の外国語教育、および日本への応用可能性について論じた書籍を、2026年度に三修社より出版予定。

「海外の外国語教育研究会」は大学英語教育学会（JACET)関西支部の分科会（SIG）です。 本研究会は「英語」に限らず広く「外国語」教育全般、さらに広く「言語」教育全般を研究対象とします。また幼稚園・保育園、小学校、中高等学校など、広い範囲での外国語教育、さらに広く言語教育に関心をもち、大学英語教育に留まらずより広い範囲を研究の対象としています。ご関心のある方は是非お問い合わせ下さい。

1. Main Theme
The SIG “Research on Foreign Language Education Abroad” explores not only English but also foreign (non-native) language education more broadly, and even more broadly, the education of language as a whole. The group investigates and analyzes foreign education policies, including curriculum design, textbook systems, teacher training and professional development, assessment systems, educational administration, and policymaking. Through these studies, the SIG aims to identify insights and practices that can contribute to language education in Japan.
2. Summary of Activities in 2025
The research group meetings were held online, with a total of four regular sessions conducted. In addition, poster presentations were given at the JACET International Convention and JAAL in JACET, and a colloquium presentation was delivered at the JACET Kansai Chapter Conference.
The research activities focused on investigating and reporting on various educational contexts, primarily overseas but also including Japan. The specific presentation topics are as follows:

3. Plans for 2026
In the 2026 academic year, the research group will continue its activities of investigating and reporting on the current state and challenges of foreign language education in various countries, including Japan. Regular meetings will be held three to four times a year, featuring presentations of members’ research as well as lectures by invited external speakers. As needed, the group will also encourage collaborative research and joint presentations by making use of the network among its members.
Under the theme “The Current State and Challenges of Foreign Language Education in Europe,” each member has contributed a chapter examining foreign language education in European countries and its potential applicability to Japan. A volume based on these contributions is scheduled to be published by Sanshusha within the 2026 academic year.
4. Message to Prospective Members
This SIG is part of the Kansai Chapter of the Japan Association of College English Teachers (JACET). This SIG does not limit its scope to English but focuses broadly on foreign language education, and even more broadly, language education as a whole. Our research interests extend across a wide range of educational settings, including kindergartens, nursery schools, elementary schools, junior and senior high schools—beyond the confines of university-level English education.
