１．研究会の概要

リスニング研究会は、リスニングの重要性に対する認識を高め、英語教育に於けるリスニングの研究、実践に積極的に取り組んできました。具体的には、リスニングテストの作成、大学生用教材の開発に努め、近年では開発テキストPower-Up College English <Basic>の実践報告とリスニングに関する多角的な実証研究について、JACET関西支部講演会にて発表しました。当研究会の活動目的を集約しますと次の通りです。

１．話し言葉の特徴やリスニングの複雑なプロセスやメカニズムに関する理解を深める。
２．教材作成も含め、画期的かつ効果的な指導方法の開発を進め、学習者のリスニングスキルやストラテジーの習得を目指す。
３．音声学、応用言語学、第二言語習得など、様々な視点からリスニングに関する最新の研究テーマや問題を幅広く探究する。

上記の目的を達成するために、当研究会では月例会を設け、理論的・教育的観点からリスニングの様々な面について議論を展開し、会員相互のアイディア、考え、経験などから学べる機会を提供しています。

２．2023年度の活動報告

2021年に上述のPower-Up College English の新セメスターシリーズ2作目の入門編を発刊しましたので、2023年度は本シリーズの3作目となるテキスト作成に向けて全体の構成と各Unitに共通するレイアウトを検討しました。その後、執筆分担など、用意周到な準備を経て、執筆活動に入りました。

３. 2024年度の活動報告

大学生用総合英語教材Power-Up College English の新セメスターシリーズの3作目にあたるリメディアル編発刊に向けて活動し、2025年4月にPower-Up College English
<Remedial>を発刊しました。また、2025年2月に会のメンバーによるリスニングに関する研究発表が行われました。

４．2025年度の予定

2025年度は教材開発プロジェクトを軸に活動を展開します。Power-Up College English
<Remedial>の教室での実践報告などを参考にして、教材の検証を行い、一つの方向性としてこれまでのインプット中心の枠組みからアウトプットにつながる要素をも内在し、教育現場のニーズに応えた教材づくりを目指します。その後、執筆分担など、用意周到な準備を経て、執筆活動に入ります。もし時間的に余裕が生じるようであれば、メンバー、および外部講師による研究発表やミニレクチャーを随時取り入れていきます。

5．新入会希望者へのメッセージ

当研究会では、教材開発やリスニングストラテジー研究などに真摯に取り組んできました。2014年、総合教材Power-Up English シリーズの5作目にあたる、Power-Up English
<Pre-Intermediate>（南雲堂）を刊行しました。

そして、2016年、再度、教材開発の気運が盛り上がり、主なプロジェクトとしてリスニングストラテジーを重視した総合教材の開発に着手し、2019年にPower-Up College English <Basic>（南雲堂）を、2021年にPower-Up College English <Intro>（南雲堂）を、そして2025年にPower-Up College English<Remedial>（南雲堂）を発刊しました。

リスニングにまつわる関連テーマや分野は多岐にわたっていますが、どの分野であれリスニングに関心のある方であればどなたでも歓迎いたします。但し、2025年度の月例会では、新テキスト開発に向けての論議が中心になります。

1. Main Theme

The group is committed to raising the awareness of the importance of listening and
promoting the study and practice of listening in English language education. Historically, the group has undertaken the development of a pioneering listening test, engaged in the presentation on listening strategy research at the JACET Kansai Chapter Symposium, and endeavored the publication of teaching materials tailor-made for university-level learners.

The group sets out the following objectives:

To deepen the understanding of the characteristic features of spoken language and the complex process and mechanisms of listening.
To develop innovative and effective instructional methods and techniques, including teaching materials, with a view to enable learners to improve their listening skills and strategies.
To make in-depth studies on a broad range of cutting-edge themes and issues
pertaining to listening from diverse perspectives, such as phonology, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and other language-related disciplines.

In order to accomplish these objectives, the members hold monthly meetings where they engage in active discussion by sharing their ideas, thoughts, and experiences on various aspects of listening from both theoretical and pedagogical viewpoints.

2. Summary of Activities in 2023

We undertook the development of the third volume in the Power-Up College English series with a focus on refining its overall framework and the internal organization of each unit. Following an extensive preparatory phase marked by careful planning and deliberation, we proceeded to the writing stages.

3．Summary of Activities in 2024

We contributed to the publication of Power-Up College English: Remedial, which was
successfully released in April 2025. Furthermore, in February of the same year, one of our group members delivered a research presentation.

4. Schedule for 2025

In 2025, the group is planning to work on the following projects. The main project, which commenced in 2016, is to concentrate on the publication of the Power-Up English series. The goal is to make a textbook that inspires students to work on productive activities in class. The group members will then focus on writing after full preparation, brainstorming, discussing and planning the themes and topics viable for the project as well as the required effort within an executable schedule, including allocating a portion of the work to each member. If there is still some time left while pursuing this project, another project is to allow the members opportunities for giving presentations or mini-lectures related to listening.

5. Message to Prospective Members

Since its founding, the group has been actively involved in various research projects on listening. The members’ collaborative endeavor has borne fruit in the development of a listening test, listening strategy research, the publication of listening strategy books and a series of graded multi-skills textbooks entitled Power-Up English. The group devoted itself to the publications of Power-Up College English: Basic from the year 2016 through 2019, Power-Up College English: Intro from the year 2019 through 2021, and Power-Up College English: Remedial from the year 2023 through 2025.

The group usually holds monthly meetings, which enable active information exchanges on a variety of listening-related topics. Discussions on issues from multiple perspectives are facilitated, including topics such as phonology, applied linguistics, and English language education. The monthly meetings are conducted at Shitennoji University Abeno Harukas Satellite Campus.

Although the group prioritizes the above mentioned projects, the group welcomes
anyone who is interested in listening-related themes and topics and especially in
