１．研究会の概要
リスニング研究会は、リスニングの重要性に対する認識を高め、英語教育に於けるリスニングの研究、実践に積極的に取り組んできました。具体的には、リスニングテストの作成、大学生用教材の開発に努め、最近では開発テキストPower-Up College English <Basic>の実践報告とリスニングに関する多角的な実証研究についてJACET関西支部講演会にて発表しました。当研究会の活動目的を集約しますと次の通りです。
１．話し言葉の特徴やリスニングの複雑なプロセスやメカニズムに関する理解を深める。
２．教材作成も含め、画期的かつ効果的な指導方法の開発を進め、学習者のリスニングスキルやストラテジーの習得を目指す。
３．音声学、応用言語学、第二言語習得など、様々な視点からリスニングに関する最新の研究テーマや問題を幅広く探究する。
コロナ禍で控えておりましたが上記の目的を達成するために、当研究会では月例会を設け、理論的・教育的観点からリスニングの様々な面について議論を展開し、会員相互のアイディア、考え、経験などから学べる機会を提供しています。
２．2021年度の活動報告
2021年4月に大学生用総合英語教材Power-Up College English の新セメスターシリーズの2作目にあたる入門編、Power-Up College English <Intro>を発刊しました。
３. 2022年度の活動予定
リスニング研究会ではコロナ禍のため大事を取り研究会活動を極力控えておりましたが、年度末に四天王寺大学あべのハルカスキャンパスにて、全体会議を開催しました。2021年に上述のPower-Up College English の新セメスターシリーズ2作目の入門編を発刊しましたので、本シリーズの3作目となるリメディアル編のテキスト作成に向けたレイアウトを検討しました。
４．2023年度の予定
2023年度は引き続き教材開発プロジェクトを軸に活動を展開します。当面は、各Unitに共通するレイアウトの設定です。Power-Up College English <Intro>の教室での実践報告などを参考にして、教材の検証を行い、一つの方向性としてこれまでのインプット中心の枠組みからアウトプットにつながる要素をも内在し、教育現場のニーズに応えた教材づくりを目指します。その後、執筆分担など、用意周到な準備を経て、執筆活動に入ります。もし時間的に余裕が生じるようであれば、メンバーによる研究発表やミニレクチャーを随時取り入れていきます。
5．新入会希望者へのメッセージ
当研究会では、教材開発やリスニングストラテジー研究などに真摯に取り組んできました。2014年、総合教材Power-Up English シリーズの5作目にあたる、Power-Up English <Pre-Intermediate>（南雲堂）を刊行しました。そして、2016年、再度、教材開発の気運が盛り上がり、主なプロジェクトとしてリスニングストラテジーを重視した総合教材の開発に着手し、2019年、Power-Up College English <Basic>（南雲堂）を、2021年、Power-Up College English <Intro>（南雲堂）を発刊しました。リスニングにまつわる関連テーマや分野は多岐にわたっていますが、どの分野であれリスニングに関心のある方であればどなたでも歓迎いたします。但し、2023年度の月例会では、新テキスト開発に向けての論議が中心になります。テキストの作成に特に関心のある方は、執筆分担の関係上、一日でも早く研究会のホームページ：http://blog.livedoor.jp/jacetlistening/をご覧の上、神野雅代（kanno@shitennoji.ac.jp）までぜひご連絡ください。

1. Main Theme
JACET Kansai SIG on Listening is committed to raising the awareness of the importance of listening and promoting the study and practice of listening in English language education. Historically, the group has undertaken the development of the pioneering listening test, the presentation on listening strategy research at the JACET Kansai Chapter Symposium, and the publication of teaching materials tailor-made for university-level learners. The study group sets out the following objectives:
1. To deepen the understanding of the characteristic features of spoken language and the complex process and mechanism of listening.
2. To make an in-depth study of a broad range of cutting-edge themes and issues pertaining to listening from diverse perspectives such as phonology, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and other language-related disciplines.
3. To develop innovative and effective instructional methods and techniques, including teaching materials, with a view to helping learners improve listening skills and strategies.
In order to accomplish these objectives, the members hold monthly meetings where they engage in active discussion by sharing their ideas, thoughts, and experiences on various aspects of listening from both theoretical and pedagogical viewpoints.
2. Summary of Activities up to 2022
The group organized a symposium on “Practical Report on the Material Development of Power-Up College English <Basic> and Empirical Research on Listening” at JACET Kansai Second Lecture Meeting on October 17, 2020. Since its founding, the group has been actively involved in various research projects on listening. The members’ collaborative endeavor has born fruit in the development of the listening test, listening strategy research, the publication of listening strategy textbooks and a series of graded multi-skills textbooks entitled Power-Up English. The group devoted itself to the publications of Power-Up College English<Basic> from 2016 through 2018 and Power-Up College English<Intro> from 2019 through 2021.
3．Plans for 2023
In 2023 the group is planning to work on the following projects. The main project, which has come down since 2021, is to concentrate upon the publication of the Remedial Level Power-Up College English. The goal is to make out a textbook that inspires students to work on productive activities in class. The group members get down to writing after having everything fully prepared including allotting a portion of the work to each. If there is still some time left while pursuing this project, another project is to let the members have opportunities for giving presentations or mini-lectures related to listening.
4. Message to Prospective Members
JACET Kansai SIG on Listening, composed of approximately ten members, has put in a serious effort to bring out textbook publications and strategy research projects. The study group normally holds its monthly meetings, which offer active information exchanges on a variety of listening-related topics. Issues from multiple perspectives are discussed, such as phonology, applied linguistics and English language education. The monthly meetings are held at Shitennoji University Abeno Harukas Campus.
Although it prioritizes the projects described above, the group welcomes anyone who is interested in listening-related themes and topics and especially in developing a new textbook. For further information, contact Masayo Kanno at kanno@shitennoji.ac.jp.
