1．研究会の概要

本研究会では，大学における英文ライティング指導のあり方と実践的指導法について考え，研究を行っています。過去16冊の紀要を発行し，2025年度からは新規研究プロジェクトである「学習者主体の英語ライティング指導：AIとの共創を目指す自己調整・自律・継続学習への支援」について探求していく予定です。

「英語教育の転換期におけるライティング指導再考：学習コミュニティの形成と学生の学び」について，理解と実践を深めて，AI 時代のライティング教育を探求しました。例会は4月，7月，9月，12月，3月と計5回，オンライン形式で開催しました。

5．新入会希望者へのメッセージ

日本の高等教育機関では，ライティング力はあまり重視されてきませんでしたが，多くの海外高等教育機関では，ライティング力は，自らの学業を進める上で不可欠のスキルとして位置づけられています。本研究会では，この重要なライティング力を向上させるためには，どのような指導をしたらよいのかについて，様々な角度から長年研究してきました。その一つとして，2007年に，ルーブリック（評価表）を作成し，そのルーブリックを教育現場で使えるものにするために，いくつかの研究を行いました。最近の活動では，特に機械翻訳や生成AIといった技術の導入とライティング指導に注目しており，関心のある方のご参加をお待ちしています。

1. Main Theme

This research group explores effective approaches and practical methods for teaching English writing at the university level. We have published 16 volumes of our annual journal and, starting in the 2025 academic year, we will begin a new research project titled “Learner-Centered English Writing Instruction: Supporting Self-Regulated, Autonomous, and Sustainable Learning through Co-Creation with AI.”

2. Summary of Activities in 2023

We deepened our understanding and practice of “Rethinking Writing Instruction in a Transformative Era of English Education: Building Learning Communities and Enhancing Student Learning,” with a focus on writing instruction in the age of AI. We held five online meetings in April, July, September, December, and March.

We published the results of our research project, “Rethinking Writing Instruction in a Transformative Era of English Education: Building Learning Communities and Enhancing Student Learning,” as the 16th volume of our journal in March 2025. We held five online meetings in April, July, September, December, and March.

4. Plans for 2025

We will explore our new research project, “Learner-Centered English Writing Instruction: Supporting Self-Regulated, Autonomous, and Sustainable Learning through Co-Creation with AI.” Meetings are scheduled to be held online in April, July, September, December, and March.

5. Message to Prospective Members

In Japanese higher education, writing skills have not traditionally been emphasized. However, in many overseas institutions, writing is considered an essential skill for academic success. This research group has long explored how to effectively teach writing from various perspectives. One notable initiative was the development of a rubric in 2007, followed by several studies aimed at making it practical for classroom use. In recent years, we have focused especially on the integration of technologies such as machine translation and generative AI in writing instruction. We welcome the participation of anyone interested in these themes.
